Again and again, I'm asked at trade shows whether the baby gets enough air under norbärt?
The current recommendation from midwives is not to cover the stroller or infant car seat. This recommendation comes with the background that many parents use thick blankets, jackets, and similar items to cover them. These are all absolutely unsuitable materials for covering. They are neither breathable nor flexible enough.
But why do we parents want to cover our baby in the infant car seat or stroller at all?
Firstly, it's certainly the weather or air conditioning; we want to protect our baby from various weather conditions. Be it wind, rain, cold air, or sun.
In cold or cool temperatures, you can place norbärt over the stroller or infant car seat and thus protect your baby as desired. The fabric and the arrangement of the opening ensure that your baby gets enough air to breathe.
In warm and especially hot temperatures, particular caution is advised. This is because the primary concern is no longer breathability, but air circulation. More on this in this article - Shade provider with good air circulation.
Secondly, I would see overstimulation. In our "adult world," there are so many different stimuli, whether auditory or visual. Our babies, especially in the first three months of life, cannot process this flood of stimuli. Therefore, we should prefer a quiet environment, but if you still need or want to go out into the hustle and bustle of a shopping center, norbärt offers a retreat cave for the baby. The stimuli are mitigated, and your baby doesn't receive everything unfiltered.

Thirdly, there is the fact that there are still people who touch my baby in the stroller or infant car seat without asking. Especially in urban areas, I hear this from mothers again and again. It's simply bad manners to touch babies without asking, just because they are so cute. We wouldn't think of touching a stranger just because we like their hair so much.

Fourthly, for me, there's a reason that also applies to older babies/toddlers. When my baby sleeps, I like to shield it a bit so it can sleep peacefully. This can be in the infant car seat, stroller, or even a buggy. When the baby/toddler is tired, it wants to have an undisturbed sleep, even when on the go.
As we can see, there are many reasons, and probably even more, why we would like to cover our children in the stroller or infant car seat. To prevent this from happening with unsuitable materials, we recommend norbärt - the protective cover. Our fabric is breathable, and thanks to the arrangement of the opening, we utilize the physical effect that heat rises. To be sure, in January 2023, we conducted a test with a pediatrician and an oxygen saturation monitor. For this, we used norbärt on an infant car seat with a 3-week-old baby. The test conditions were 30 minutes in a closed indoor room at approx. 22 degrees Celsius. The pediatrician attached the oxygen saturation monitor and checked the values before, during, and after we placed norbärt over the infant car seat. The oxygen saturation did not change at any point. It remained stable at 96%. The baby had this value both before and after the test.

In conclusion, I can say that if you use norbärt correctly according to the temperatures, you can calmly protect your baby, and it will get enough air to breathe.
